Sweet Home 3D

Drawing a floor plan requires a good amount of patience and skills. Even with a specialized CAD program, you may still spend a large amount of time until you learn its controls. If you don't want to pay a specialist to draw a plan for you, then you can turn to Sweet Home 3D. The application was created with ease of use in mind, so you don't need any special skills to draw your plan. Besides drawing and furnishing your rooms, without any effort, you will be able to see how they look in 3D, at the same time.

The user interface consists of a millimeter sheet, a 3D preview, as well as two lists with available and inserted furniture and appliances. Tools for drawing walls and floors, taking measurements or inserting text can be found on a toolbar. As you draw floors and walls, a 3D preview will be generated in real time. The same will happen when you insert and modify furniture. You can pan, zoom and rotate the camera in the preview area, so you can view your rooms from any angle, to make sure you haven't overlooked anything.

The available furniture and appliances are neatly categorized in several folders, for different rooms. You can insert any item into your project by simply dragging and dropping it over the millimeter sheet. The application places a large selection of objects at your disposal, including couches, tables, doors, windows and much more. Inserted items can be moved, resized and rotated and, as previously mentioned, you will be able to see these motions, in real time, in the preview area.

Right clicking any furniture items, walls or floors will reveal a series of useful options in a pop-up menu. Among these options you can find one for modifying the selected object's properties. This will display a new window, on which you can change the object's name, dimensions, color or texture and much more.

Sweet Home 3D provides a series of interesting output options as well. If you decide to print your project, the application will print the list of inserted objects, the floor plan and the 3D preview, on separate pages. What's more, you can take a snapshot of the 3D preview and save it as an image. Another useful feature is the possibility of creating a video recording of the 3D preview.
